【摘要】:Thequantitativedeterminationofacidextractablecontentisusefulinevaluatingactivatedcarbonsamplesthatcontainacidsolubleimpurities.Theseacidsolubleimpuritiescanaffectapplicationsofactivatedcarbon.LimitationsofMethod8212;Hydrochloricacidisusedinthistestmethodastheextractingacid.Allelementsorcompoundspresentintheactivatedcarbonsample,whichcanbeacidextracted,areassumedtoformwatersolublechloridesalts.Hydrochloricacidmaynotsolubilizeallimpuritiesofactivatedcarbon.1.1Thistestmethodistobeusedfordeterminationoftheacidextractablecontentofasampleofactivatedcarbon.Thistestmethodpresupposestheexistenceofsubstancesotherthancarbontobepresentwithactivatedcarbonbutdoesnotpurporttoaddressoridentifythosesubstanceswhichmaybepresent.ThistestmethodshouldbeapplicabletoanyforminwhichactivatedcarbonmayexistandrequirestheperformanceofTestMethodD2866.1.2Thistestmethodrequirestheuseofconcentratedhydrochloricacid,whichshouldbeusedinanappropriateandsafemanner,witheyeprotection,skinprotectionandhandlingcarriedoutinaproperlyoperatingfumehood.TheproperuseofamufflefurnaceisaddressedinTestMethodD2866.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminestheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
